I had to gain Florida residence before I could get divorced
I was living in Key West Florida with my sister after leaving my deadbeat husband. I was having so much FUN! I was newly single but had to wait six months to gain Florida residence before I could file for divorce. I had been there for about four months and when Halloween night rolled around I met my future daughter’s dad. He was standing next to me at the new Slappy Joe’s bar. (I actually had my picture in People Magazine in front of the original Slappy Joe’s but that’s another story). I was dressed up for Halloween like a candy striper. There was this guy their that was friends with my sister that everybody called Terrible Ted. Ted had this cane and kept lifting the back of my dress. I kept telling him “stop it” and then would go on about my business. My future daughter’s father was standing next to me (he was a perfect stranger at the time). All of a sudden I felt something underneath my dress. I turned around and Terrible Ted was trying to crawl under my dress. I spun around and he got up and tried to run. I kicked him really hard as he was running off. My future daughter’s father witnessed this display of aggression and must have been impressed. We started dating after that.
A few months after we started dating I ended up pregnant. He was NOT happy. Once I got pregnant he really started acted like an ass. He would make comments like “whale on the beach” and other mean remarks. But we decided to have the baby.
My divorce from my last husband became final during my pregnancy. My baby’s father convinced me to marry him.
He decided he was going to try to control me just like my last husband. The only person who controls me is me.
So that didn’t work out so well either. I ended up having my baby, a healthy beautiful girl that I wouldn’t trade for anything. She was so cute. I just decided I couldn’t live with someone for the rest of my life that was an unhappy and selfish person. I couldn’t live like that so I moved on and I was a single mom until she grew up. The moral of the story is don’t live in an unhappy situation. There is something better!
